my 29th

My 29th birthday weekend was so fun! My mom came down on Friday (my day off) and we enjoyed shopping around town. We ventured into a few stores I’ve never been brave enough to enter alone. That night some friends and I went to see Fame! It was a fun movie, although the plot left much to be desired, the dancing and the music were fun! Made me want to choreograph or better yet, dance!

Then Jer and I enjoyed a lazy Saturday while it rained outside. We made pancakes for breakfast and moved into opening presents. That’s when I got my  Canon EOS REBEL T1i, I love it! I’ve taken about 350 pictures since Saturday morning when I first opened it! It’s been so fun to play with, and read the manual (well, really Jer more than I). We also went to good will, bought an end table (to complete our set) and went grocery shopping and saved more than we spent! (We love it when that happens)

Here is a slideshow of my 29th birthday weekend.

There are without a doubt, more pictures to come!

the unhurried life

I wish I knew at times more about that lifestyle; unhurried, but not foolish enough to be unbothered. I wonder what it would be like if we weren’t always rushing in for the next thing, but took more time to really enjoy, and partake in this gift of breath and life.

I reflect on this subject only because of my condition to want things to be further along than they are, always. I want the house to be put together, there to be enough storage space, for all of the trips to goodwill to be taken, all of the furniture in it’s proper place, all of the storage to be perfectly organized, the groceries to be bought, the shelves to be dusted, the trash taken out, the recycling emptied, the plants watered, and so on. And it just doesn’t happen, it’s a slow process.

I hope in these day-to-days I see the beauty of the moment, I really don’t want to miss this time of my life as a newlywed, I really don’t want to hope for the next thing.

The unhurried life, is a life I strive for. (ironic?)

new favorite blog!

I discovered this blog a few weeks ago (in the midst of wedding-chaos) and I love it! I love the ideas on fixing up old furniture and even the turn this room into an outfit idea, as well as turn this movie into a room – it’s cute, inspiring, a little vintage with a bit of modern. It’s right up my design-alley.

The blog is called design sponge and they shorten it like this: d*s. (cute!)

I’ve found a bunch of images from the site that I’ve screen captured and put them into a folder on my desk top titled “pictures i love”. Maybe a little too obvious of a name, but give me a break, I have honey-moon, newly wed brain.

In light of this design inspiration, I’ve been searching craig list over as well as local consignment to find a new dining room table, we’d like something a smidge bigger than what we have now, although not too much – and we’d like a new set of chairs, I’ve found one that I’d love to get, we are going tomorrow to check it out – and, it’s red! I’ve always loved red especially in the cottage-look paired with cool blues and greens, so perhaps this will be our table!

For now here are a few of the images, I’m loving these days, hope you might also.

the honeymoon

Jer and I just back last weekend from a trip to the Dominican Republic for our honeymoon! We loved the trip to this tropical spanish land! We learned about the Dominica and Saona Island (for a day trip). It was so much fun.

I have a couple of slideshows loaded into flickr that we’d like to share with you.

The first is of the resort and the first three days of the honeymoon, the second is of Saona Island.

I will add pictures of wedding week and blog about the whole wedding experience soon. But for now, just know that Jer and I are doing well and loving our first (almost) 2 weeks of married life! It is a process learning to live, work, and play together but one that I am enjoying thoroughly.
